In June, we signed a contract worth over 1 million zlotys for the modernisation of the Main Power Supply Point (GPZ) at the Krotoszyn factory, which manufactures car engine parts. We are currently working on ensuring an uninterrupted power supply to the production halls. The completion date is the end of December this year.
Mahle Polska (formerly Delta Krotoszyn) has been using our services for thirty years, but we have not often faced such a serious challenge. The production plant is developing very rapidly, so the demand for energy is constantly growing. This year, it became necessary to carry out a thorough modernisation of another section of the 110/15kV substation.
Two transformers, each with a capacity of 16MVA, were no longer able to meet the plant’s electricity demand. In the spring of this year, the decision was made to replace them with larger units. Elektromontaż Poznań replaced one of them with a 40MVA transformer and carried out a thorough modernisation of the entire high- and medium-voltage switchgear. All this was carried out whilst the substation remained operational, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of 32MW of power to the production halls. An additional challenge was to connect, during the modernisation, two 110kV 16MVA transformers operating in parallel in a single 110kV bay and to develop protection schemes for such an unusual configuration.
