The contract is being carried out for the project’s main contractor, Skanska, and covers the installation of internal plumbing and HVAC systems.
The new wing of the hospital will have three above-ground storeys and one underground storey. The two existing Paediatric Oncology and Haematology Wards (III and V) will be relocated here. The building will also house laboratories for pathomorphology, haematological immunology and cytostatic drugs, as well as an Oncology Clinic. There will also be a general anaesthesia suite, a neonatal care unit, a laser therapy room, rooms for psychological support, a rehabilitation room, playrooms for children, staff facilities for parents and carers, and a seminar room.
The interior of the ward will be designed to make children feel as comfortable as possible. The walls of the corridors will feature drawings with nature, city and sea motifs. The building will also house a large aquarium.
Once construction is complete (scheduled for 2022), the hospital’s total usable floor area will increase by 3,377 m².
